PACK HISTORY
100 years ago, there was only one pack. It was ruled by a wise Alpha pair who had two twin sons, Ital and Bruin. As the pack numbers rose so great that the land the pack lived in could no longer sustain them all, the two Alphas came up with a plan. The two Alphas decided to split the pack into two, but strongly wanted both of them to remain allies. The Alpha male decided that Ital and Ital's mate would be Alphas of the one pack, whose territory consisted of forest and mountain land. The Alpha female decided that Bruin and Bruin's mate would be the Alphas of the other pack, whose territory consisted of the lake area and the farming land. But after their parents' deaths, the two brothers suddenly became rivals, and the two allied packs were allies no longer.
Even with the two packs being rivals, the traditions of the two packs were the same regarding the Betas. In both packs, the Betas were chosen to be the oldest offspring of the Alphas once that child gained a mate. In Ital's pack, his oldest child was a daughter named Siren. In Bruin's pack, his oldest child was a son named William. Due to an undetermined cause, the tradition changed so that the Betas were chosen to be the pair the Alphas mostly prefer, but the timing of the change soon became the source that destroyed the two packs. The change was made before both children gained a mate, which led to their rank as Beta not possible. This change made the Betas a pair who was not related to the Alphas' bloodlines, which led to the betrayal of Siren and William after they gained mates.
Without their choices being accepted by their parents, Siren and William along with their mates left their parents' packs in order to start their own, creating the four packs that exist now (Mist Mountain, Lurking Shadows, Deep Waters, and Whispering Wind). After a while, the four packs divided the four types of land among the four of them. Ital's pack owned the mountain land, Bruin's pack owned the lake area, Siren's pack owned the forest area, and William's pack owned the farming land. Over the years, only Ital's pack and Bruin's pack regained their alliance and their two packs remained allies.
