It's the last ten seconds of the game. We are tied at 53 and overtime isn't an option for us. This timeout was called full. We were crowded in a circle with coach Harley scribbling on the board. "Becca, you stand at the three point line as the others screen for you. You run out in front grab the ball and hit the lay up. Alright? Ready one, two, three!" At the three we all howled as a wolf would've done during a full moon. Kristen, May, Juliann, Lexie and I ran out, setting up our out of bounds play, planned for this exact moment. We took our stances as Kristen was handed the ball from the man in black and white. I took my chance and sprinted out in front when I heard the slapping of skin against rubber. The ball was passed into me. All were shouting my name. Before I could lift my last foot off the floor, there was a sharpening pain occurring at my side. The ball was out of my grasp and I was off my feet. The weight of the earth kept pushing me down until a jolt of pain bursted through my neck, spine and head. What happened? Was it the girl who pushed me? Or was it the wall behind the board? I could hear the whistles blowing, the slamming of feet against the hard wooden floor, and people calling my name. My eyes were heavy and every one of my limbs were paralyzed with fear of moving. "Becca! Becca don't close your eyes, helps coming." Coach Harley screamed and he kneeled on one knee. I couldn't nod nor speak in response. I was scared. I knew nothing of what was happening, I was glued to the floor, I couldn't move and everyone seemed to be a blur of color. I could only hear the voices reaching out for me. Mom, Dad, James, the team, the coaches of both teams, friends, and even the voices of those who I never knew closely or hardly knew at all. What this the end, of my life, my dream, my passion, or my person?
